5 Ways To Say “Yes” To Your Dreams

So many women reject their dreams because they haven’t cultivated trust in their own ability to achieve the impossible.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to experience one of your dreams in reality? Let’s face it: we can come up with a million reasons why saying “yes” to our dreams simply doesn’t make sense.

Here are a few common reasons:

1. I don’t have enough money.

2. I’m too old.

3. It seems impossible.

4. I simply can’t.

If you’ve ever said one of the above, then it’s time you face the truth. Many of us spend our time acquiring years but never fulfilling the true value of the life we’re intended to live here on earth. It’s a harsh reality, but it’s one that many women face.

After reading an article earlier this year in Forbes, I realized my own shortcomings in this area. I found myself pondering all of the reasons why saying “yes” to my own dreams was a good idea. As much as I love a story of hope and fulfillment, I was too afraid to trust my heart and surrender my power over to the unknown. As I struggled through the agony of working and feeling unfulfilled each day, I felt a greater distance between me and my reality. I was complacent in reality and imagining myself amongst the stars. And I began to ask, “How many more women feel like me?” I wasn’t powerless, I just wasn’t skilled at saying “yes” to me. Since then, I’ve transformed my model around dreaming and decided to share my 5 ways to say “yes” to your dreams with you.

So, if you’ve been trying to figure out how to build the courage to say “yes” to your dreams, here’s my hit list for moving your heart and mind in the right direction:

1. Place a higher value on your self perception than you do on what others think of you.

If you want to gain confidence in what your heart is saying, you must believe in that small voice that keeps speaking to you and deny the controls of people that will try to prohibit your trust in yourself. Imagine being the leader of your own life, requiring no validation from another person, but instead trusting that you are being guided in the right direction at all times by the alignment of your head and your heart.

Remember that people are not meant to validate you, they are meant to serve as a support to the validation you already provide yourself.

2. Practice the art of saying “yes” to yourself – indulge in the satisfaction of self fulfillment.

As women we tend to deny ourselves the fulfillment of true gratitude, always waiting until we are deserving, according to some unattainable measure. When we tell ourselves no, we reject the very idea that we are meant to receive anything from ourselves. We begin to believe that “no” is always the answer, and we stop pursuing our “yes.” Ultimately, we set ourselves on the course to inferiority for fear of hearing “no” and facing internal rejection. When we find small ways to say “yes” to ourselves and our small desires, it makes pursuing a larger dream seem possible.

3. Surrender your entire life over to your faith and not your fears.

Faith is believing that you are capable of achieving the impossible, of applying action that reinforces your beliefs. Without faith, we deny ourselves the power of seeing our beliefs come to life. When we reject the power of our faith, we surrender our life to our fears and relinquish all rights to the promises of our belief.

How many people do we know that “almost” made their dreams come true, but quit after one fear overpowered their faith? Far too many. We don’t have to be counted in that number. One move of faith, one dream fulfilled can change the entire course of your life. But there has to be a complete surrender of your mind and heart towards the idea that the impossible can be accomplished through your belief.

I love how Jayson Demers said in an INC article, “Fear is a limiting factor, and it’s present in all of us, but moving past that fear is essential for success.”

What will it take for you to surrender your life to your faith?

What will you accomplish through your belief?

4. Power up with ability and accountability.

No human is capable of accomplishing anything alone. Your vision will require you to tap into the power of your own ability and the accountability of people who can help you make things come alive. It’s crucial to power up with strong skills, knowledge, energy, and readiness around your dreams. Be prepared with understanding of what you desire, study everything about the goal that you’re pursuing, and be well versed on what it is you seek to achieve.

Power up with accountability from at least 3 people who can help to keep you on course. I suggest a mentor who has gone before you in manifesting a dream of any sort, a coach who can counter your doubts and fears pushing you beyond your limits and a friend who can be your shoulder but also knows when to push you back out into the trenches and keeps you on course.

5. Make the pursuit of your dream a matter of life or death.

If you want to say yes to your dreams, you can’t give yourself a way of escape. Pursuing your dream must be the only option, and you must put everything that you believe behind seeing it come alive. It has to be a matter of life or death to you. Your dream must be something that you refuse to leave behind. Your fate must depend on the idea that you’re the only person who can actualize this dream, and there is no way you can live your best life without it.

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” – Harriet Tubman

I employ each of you, as women who have a specific gift or talent that is meant to serve this world, to dig deep and consider how you’ll take one step today that leads you closer to the fulfillment of your dreams. Your legacy depends on it, and your one “yes” can change the course of history.
